ZACK KEIM
Zack Keim has taken his original mix of folk, blues and garage rock to rave reviews a in America’s Midwest and most recently, across the ocean in Europe. Now, he’s bringing it home to SummerSounds.
Born and raised in nearby Blawnox, the 28-year-old singer-songwriter has been immersed in music for as long as he can remember. He picked up his first guitar in middle school and was soon playing along to his father’s Beatle’s albums.
He cites indie-rock and folk icons like Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie among his early inspirations. As his music evolved, he moved on to garage rock. After a series of local open mic nights, Zack formed his first band, Nox Boys and was signed to a contract with Get Hip records.
Later, struggling to make ends meet s a food delivery driver in Washington D.C. during covid, Zack’s maturing muse struck again. Rather than give up, he immersed himself in sound, studying piano, experimenting with organ, synth and keys and returning to his love of the six-string.
Pittsburgh independent radio station WYEP recognized Keim’s evolving sound, honoring him as 2025 Artist of the Year. The judges said “Battery Lane,” “feels like a coming-of-age story” studded with “little pearls of wisdom you’d expect from someone who had a few more lines on their face.”
