THE PLATE SCRAPERS
Wrap up the vacation season and get ready to head back to school and work with one last fling as SummerSounds welcomes the upbeat bluegrass music of The Plate Scrappers.
Distilled in the tradition of blue grass jams and picnic basket lunches on the yard, the Plate Scrappers have been making music together, touring up and down the east coast and the Midwest since 2014. They’ve released 3 studio albums and 3 live albums that showcase the sound of the mountains.
Based in Western Maryland, the band jelled during a series of old-fashioned jam sessions.
See their fingers fly as banjo prodigy Derek Kretzer, fiddler Robbie Mann, guitar player Andrew Jordan, bassist Kevin Johnson and dobro man Jody Mosser play their special blend of traditional toe-tapping Appalachian bluegrass colored by the band’s progressive approach to the ups and downs of daily life.
Hailed in reviews for “exceptional musicianship” and as “pickers with solid vocals and a strong stage presence,” the Plate Scrappers shine in catchy original numbers.
The Plate Scrappers’ distinctive mix of mountain folk, fast-paced bluegrass traditions and soulful ballads of mountain life and love earned them kudos from Bluegrass Country Radio as well as top honors at the 2019 Podunk Bluegrass Telefunken Band Contest.
